Taking it to the Next Level
Current Projection to Dedicated Ice
3 Ways You Could Help Us Get There.
Join us in whatever way you are able, as we create a facility for the entire Kansas City Area.
Participate
Primarily, this will make us a success. Whether you consider curling a bucket-list item to check off, enjoy competing in a complex-strategy game, or find that you cannot live without the good group of people, who find curling just as fun as you do.
Volunteer
We will have projects large and small over the summer as we build our curling facility, and as we continue the growth of our club. Volunteers at all levels are needed, and will give you a great sense of ownership and pride in expanding the interest in the sport of curling.
Donate
We currently have the money needed to get the ice in and get started, but are in need of additional funds to keep the facility funning for our first year. To make our club the reality we want it to be, we have set a goal of raising $100,000. We are using GOFUNDME to collect money for our 501(c)3 organization. The photos above depict what our club could look like in the future, if given enough investments. However long it takes, we will continue to make our place one that people will want to visit and stay awhile.
What We Could Offer
What does dedicated ice mean vs. the ice we play on now.
More Ice Time
Currently we are limited to 1.5 hours of play time each time we step on the ice. We are also limited to playing only on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. We will be able offer curling 7 days a week for 2 hour intervals.
Better Ice
By comparison, we are moving from playing baseball in the street to playing in Kauffman Stadium. A more predicable playing surface will allow our curling community to train better, and play better. This includes being able to compete on the national and international stages.
More Programs
All of our curling now is general in nature. With dedicated ice, we will be able to build programs that are age specific, and experience specific. We will also be able to inclue practice times, and open play for our members. Plus, we will have that ability to host more bonspiels and the opportunity to host USCA sanctioned events.
The Plan
Follow us here as we keep you up to date with what is happening.
What do you get when you combine "Curling" with a "Muscle Car Showroom" and a "Bouncy House" next door ---- One of the coolest attractions in all of Kansas City. All three venues are being planned at our site just off of I-70 in Blue Springs.
We have signed a letter of intent on a 10-year lease for a very unique building that is half-buried with a concrete ceiling. This place used to showcase vehicles on top along the highway. Column spacing couldn't be more "perfect" as we will have 4 sheets of curling ice between them along side a generous sized warm room. The owner will build to suit a basic space where we can provide curling, and over time, improve upon to possibly match the shown renderings as we grow our club. We will be putting in the ice sheet this summer, along with the walls, restrooms, etc.
Current Status
- Met with architect to finalized plans.
