While curling is generally safe, you acknowledge that there are risks of injury as a result of curling and will sign a waiver at the ice rink or bring one with you in order to participate.

These risks include, but are not limited to, injury resulting from falling on the  ice (concussion, broken bone, bruises, etc.), strained muscles, and anything as a result of participating.   While most people find curling easy to learn,  bad backs, ankles, knees, poor sense of balance, or physical conditioning are some issues that keep people from curling.  Only you can make that call.

We recommend if signing up others to inform them of the proper equipment needed to reduce the chance of injury and help keep our equipment and ice clean.

  • Wear a clean pair of soft rubber soled shoes that have good grip on a smooth surface
  • Layered loose fitted clothes that will keep you warm at 45 degrees.
  • We have limited Helmets, so you are welcome to bring your own if you want additional safety while on the ice rink.
  • Signed Waiver for Child or be prepared to sign one at the rink.

Refunds will be issued if the Kansas City Curling Club is notified of the cancellation 7 days prior to the beginning of the event [48 hours prior to Learn to Curl].  A 3% processing fee will be assessed on all refunds. We also may cancel an event for our own reasons and will give you prior notification and a full refund with our apologies.

DelivaryFirst started in 1987, the Kansas City Curling Club is enjoying  a nearly 20+  year run of actual curling in the Metropolitan Area. They first curled at what was called the Ice Chateau in Overland Park, but this was short lived. Changes in management resulted in the loss of affordable ice time and the club moved to Crown Center Ice Terrace. There, the ice sheet was smaller in size but, in curling outdoors, it gave members a sense of what curling may have been like some 400 years ago. Despite building interest in the club, loss of good ice times plus inconsistent weather made curling unreliable and difficult to build membership. So around 1995, the club, finding no financial alternatives stopped curling.

PepsiIceMidewestIn 2003, a few members seeing the recent successes of new clubs in Texas and Florida due to Olympic fever, decided to reconstitute the club. They first arranged for good ice time at a new facility in southern Overland Park, (Pepsi Ice Midwest) then renewed their aged equipment with generous donations within the club and borrowing one set of stones from the Aksarben Curling Club  in Omaha, Nebraska.

LineCreekIceIn 2011 Pepsi Ice Midwest closed, and the club moved to Line Creek Community Center. Here the ice, lighting, and sound have proven to be better in many ways and the staff continues to make us feel welcome.

Since 2003,  we continue to grow each year by offering  a Free Open House , 20 week winter season composed of three six week leagues for beginners and experienced curlers, a summer league and a  yearly bonspiel (competition between clubs). Our 2017-2018 season, had 28 teams competing in 3 simulatious leagues as well as have inspired a maximum 32 teams compete in our bonspiel. We also offer  group rentals throughout the year to meet the demand as required. We have even started making plans to bring dedicated ice to Kansas City having  acquired our 501(c)3 status.

So as we continue to make history, please spread the word about this well-kept secret in Kansas City, so others may take advantage and become a part of our Club's future

For those new or experienced to curling, feel free to drop us your email, or call us at 816-523-2345 so we can keep you up to date on all the expanding curling activities.  Join the many who find curling a great way to socialize and compete playing this fun and complex sport.

The Kansas City Curling Club is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit Organization, whose main objective is to promote the sport of curling across the greater Kansas City area. Our club coordinates curling activities for people of all ages by offering instruction, training,  practice and league play by providing equipment and ice rentals.  This foundation gives our curlers  the means to become competitive athletes on the regional, national and international stage. Locally, the club hosts an annual Bonspiel (Curling Tournament) much like most curling clubs do when we travel to them.  This event has attracted curlers from all corners of the United States,as well as, several Canadian teams from Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

Having maintained a more than 10 year continuous track record of programs, our current longer-term goal is to  build a dedicated curling facility taking our 501(c)3 organization to the next level. This curling facility will allow us to expand curling to 7 days a week as well as expand programs to differing groups and levels of experience of various junior, high-school, university, adult, and senior leagues, among others.   This would make our club the only dedicated ice curling facility within a 350 mile radius.

In order to help us achieve our goal of a dedicated curling facility, we would greatly appreciate any financial support to  curling in Kansas City you can provide.   All donations  are tax deductible.

More importantly, we want you to give this sport a try.  We hope to see you on the ice!
